Always Expect the Unexpected!
Dionne D Hunter is originally from Birmingham, Alabama, but has also called Ohio and North Carolina home.

Her work has been included in anthologies published by Writing Knights, The Poet’s Haven, and Crisis Chronicles Press.
She has been featured in a web-series, Equity in Art: Cleveland Poet Speaks to Social Injustice as well as being featured during a television segment called How Art Speaks in Unsettling Times – Carolina Impact PBS Charlotte WTVI
In addition, her Spoken Word videos have been selected to be screened during the 9th International Video Poetry Festival in Athens, Greece, the 2021 Raleigh Films and Art Festival in North Carolina and and placed third in the Best Spoken Word Performance category during the Monologues & Poetry International Film Festival based in Vallejo, California.
Most recently she has authored a book titled “I am a Dahomey Warrior!”
It follows the gripping journey of a young girl coming of age prior to the colonization of Africa and is written as a short story using poetry as an aid to enhancing the readers journey.

"GREAT!"
Dionne did a great job at our Assisted Living/Memory Care community. Prior to her performance, she provided a document with her poems for the residents to have while she performed. This was extremely thoughtful and helpful! She was also very engaging throughout. Even those our residents weren't the most interactive (older population), she stayed consistent and still implored them to interact with her... and they did! After her show, I had residents thanking me for bringing her and I even had one of our MC residents say how powerful it was; that it made him want to cry and he thinks we should discuss black history more. He even talked about how he thanked her at the end and was happy that he did so. That made me so happy and attested to the great performance she gave!

"Amazing!"
I threw a party for my mother’s 75th. Dionne was one of the artist booked to perform. She did an incredible job capturing the essence of the evening and paying tribute to my mom in such an eloquent and touching way. Her words were nothing short of beautiful. She literally brought us all to tears. No Crap! I was beyond pleased with her performance in addition to her professionalism. You will not be disappointed with booking her. Thanks Dionne! I can’t wait to book you again.

"Birthday Party"
Dionne D Hunter was a pleasure to work with. She was on time for every meeting and was so nice. Dionne recited a poem for my sister-in-law’s birthday and it brought quite a few people to tears because it was so beautiful. The event was virtual and Dionne made it more special by showing a beautiful portrait in the background. Also, Dionne included a special surprise at the beginning for my sister-in-law. It was a beautiful event and I will definitely recommend Dionne to anyone that is seeking a spoken word artist. She is truly a professional and a very talented Poet!
